Terms of Service

1. Acceptance and scope

These Terms apply to Hex and to interactions with Hex inside Discord servers where the bot is installed. Discord and other third-party platforms/services have their own terms and policies, which also apply when you use them.

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use Hex. Server administrators may disable supported Hex features or remove the bot from their server.

2. Eligibility

Club 420 is intended for adults. You must be 18 years of age or older, and old enough to use Discord and the relevant services under the laws that apply to you. If a higher age is required where you live, that higher age applies.

3. What Hex does

Hex may provide features including:

• weather conditions, forecasts, radar, and location normalization;
• strain-information lookup using public information sources;
• social-link rewriting, embed-friendly reposting, and supported TikTok/Reddit video retrieval;
• native Discord voice-note transcription;
• YouTube caption/transcript summaries for supported video URLs;
• persistent local server statistics and optional participating-server leaderboards;
• community-submitted deal listings with supporting URLs and locally rendered deal cards;
• RSS/RDF/Atom subscriptions that broadcast future unseen entries to configured Discord channels;
• a pooled cross-server feedback inbox administered from the configured Club420 server; and
• per-server command/feature controls.

Features may be added, removed, restricted, renamed, rate-limited, or changed without guaranteeing continued availability.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Hex to:

• violate applicable law, Discord rules, or a Discord server's rules;
• harass, threaten, exploit, stalk, impersonate, or unlawfully monitor another person;
• distribute malware, malicious links, stolen credentials, scams, or unlawfully obtained content;
• circumvent access controls, paywalls, privacy settings, account restrictions, or technical protections;
• abuse commands, feed polling, feedback submission, or other features to spam, overload, or interfere with Hex or Discord;
• use Hex to reproduce or distribute media/content that you do not have the right to share; or
• misrepresent automated output as verified professional advice or guaranteed fact.

5. Cannabis and community content

Hex may surface cannabis-related strain information for community discussion and general informational purposes. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, legal advice, or a recommendation to buy, sell, possess, grow, transport, or consume any controlled substance.

Laws differ by location. You are responsible for knowing and following the laws that apply to you. Strain effects, flavours, genetics, terpene associations, potency labels, and similar information may be incomplete, subjective, outdated, or inaccurate.

6. Links, media, and third-party content

Hex can transform supported social-media links, suppress or replace embeds, temporarily retrieve publicly accessible media, and repost supported media files into Discord. A source link may remain for context/comments.

You are responsible for content you post and for having the rights necessary to share it. Hex does not grant copyright, publicity, privacy, trademark, or other rights in third-party content. A successful technical download/repost does not mean redistribution is legally permitted.

Hex is not designed to bypass private accounts, authentication requirements, digital-rights controls, or other access restrictions.

7. YouTube summaries

For supported YouTube video URLs, Hex may retrieve available manual or automatically generated caption tracks and send selected transcript text to the configured language-model service to produce a summary.

• Automatic summaries may omit details, misinterpret context, or contain errors.
• The original YouTube post remains the authoritative source; verify important information against the video.
• Normal summary processing is caption-based and does not require Hex to download the full video/audio.
• Videos without usable captions, restricted videos, live/upcoming streams, or unsupported URL types may not be summarized.

8. Voice-note transcription

When enabled, Hex can recognize native Discord voice notes and send a temporary converted audio copy to the configured speech-to-text provider to create a transcript. The original voice note remains in Discord.

• Do not record or share another person's voice unlawfully or without required consent.
• Transcripts are automated and can contain mistakes, omissions, or incorrect names.
• Do not rely on a transcript for emergencies, legal evidence, medical decisions, or other high-stakes decisions.

9. Server statistics and network leaderboards

Hex may maintain aggregate activity counters such as messages, non-empty text lines, words, characters, attachments, links, replies, mentions, active days, active users, and activity by channel/member.

Participating servers can also appear in cross-server aggregate leaderboards/listings. Server managers can opt their server out of cross-server participation without disabling local statistics or deleting local history.

Statistics are intended for community activity insights—not employee monitoring, surveillance, credit/eligibility decisions, or other high-impact decision making.

10. Community deals

Members may submit community deal listings containing a title, price/offer, supporting URL, merchant/details, additional URLs, and optional expiration. Hex stores those submissions and can render a local informational PNG card from the submitted fields.

Submitters are responsible for the accuracy and lawfulness of the links/content they provide. Moderators may remove deal entries.

11. RSS / Atom feeds

Hex can subscribe to public RSS 2.x, RSS/RDF 1.0, and Atom feeds and broadcast future unseen entries into a configured Discord text channel.

• Feed content comes from third-party publishers and is not endorsed by Club 420 or Hex.
• A newly subscribed feed seeds its current entries as already seen so Hex does not intentionally flood the channel with old posts.
• Hex may pause, back off, or stop polling feeds that fail, redirect unexpectedly, become too large, or violate network-safety checks.
• Members may only subscribe feeds where server permissions/configuration allow.

12. Cross-server feedback

Members may submit feedback from any server where the feature is enabled. Feedback is pooled into a central Hex inbox intended for authorized Club420 administrators.

Feedback records include the submitted title/message/category together with source server information, source channel ID, submitter Discord ID/name, timestamps, workflow status, and optional administrator notes. Do not submit secrets, passwords, payment information, or other information you do not want administrators to receive.

13. Server controls and administration

Server managers may configure command availability for their guild. Some commands require Manage Server, Manage Messages, or Administrator permissions. Central feedback-inbox administration is additionally restricted to the configured Club420 administration guild.

Disabled global slash commands can still be visible in Discord's command picker; Hex may block execution at runtime for that server.

14. Third-party services

Hex depends on Discord and interacts with third-party services/websites to provide enabled features, including weather services, OpenAI API services for configured transcription/summarization, public strain-information sources, YouTube, RSS publishers, social-media/source sites, and link-preview services. Those services are outside C420.org's control and apply their own terms/privacy practices.

15. Availability and changes

Hex is provided on a best-effort basis. Features may be unavailable because of Discord, third-party websites/APIs, network conditions, rate limits, source-format changes, bot maintenance, server permissions, configuration, or other technical issues.

16. Suspension, restriction, and removal

Club 420/Hex administrators and individual Discord server administrators may restrict commands, remove submissions/feeds/deals, block abusive use, disable features, or remove the bot where reasonably necessary for safety, policy, reliability, or community administration.

17. Intellectual property

Hex's original software, branding, website presentation, and original documentation are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Third-party names, trademarks, media, feeds, linked content, and data remain the property of their respective owners.

18. Disclaimers

HEX IS PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. No guarantee is made that Hex will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, accurate, or suitable for a particular purpose.

Weather information, transcripts, YouTube summaries, strain information, statistics, deal listings, RSS items, social-media processing, feedback workflows, and other automated outputs may contain errors or become outdated.

19. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Club 420 / C420.org and the operators/contributors of Hex are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for losses arising from reliance on Hex output, third-party content, unavailable features, data loss, linked sites, community submissions, or use of the service.

20. Your responsibility

You are responsible for your Discord account, your submissions and links, your compliance with law/server rules, checking important information against authoritative sources, and deciding whether it is appropriate to use or rely on any Hex feature/output.

21. Changes to these Terms

These Terms may be revised as Hex features/providers/operations change or as legal obligations evolve. Material revisions will be reflected by updating the effective date on this page.
